Video of Solar System Exploration @ 50 Symposium Available

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first successful planetary mission in 1962, the NASA History Program Office, in conjunction with the Division of Space History at the National Air and Space Museum, the NASA Science Mission Directorate, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory hosted a symposium on Oct. 25-26, 2012. The event was held at the Lockheed Martin Global Vision Center in Arlington, Va. The event also was streamed live on UStream and is archived at: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/26420237.

In addition, individual presentations may be found at:

Addendum (Nov. 19. 2012): A reader has suggested that this listing would be more useful if an agenda is included. One may be found here. Thanks for this suggestion.

This was an excellent symposium, but the video links posted here would be a LOT more useful if accompanied by an agenda. One is available at http://www.nasa.gov/topics/history/features/SSEat50.html. That agenda not only has the topics and participants of each of the panels listed, but also has all their slides downloadable, so one can view them with some quality while listening to the speakers.

Received a note from NASA Chief Historian Bill Barry, who informed me that there is an additional source for the videos of this symposium. Here’s the link to the summary page: http://www.nasa.gov/topics/history/features/SSEat50.html. If you go here, http://www.nasa.gov/topics/history/index.html, you will also find a link on the left side to the videos and the presentations. Enjoy.
