Session on History and Public Policy at the Society for the History of Technology

The Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) is holding its annual meeting in Portland, Maine, on October 10-13, 2013. As always it will be an interesting gathering of friends, fellow historians, and other researchers on the meaning of technology in the human experience. On Friday afternoon, October 11, I am participating in what I believe will be a really interesting session relating to the relationship between historical understanding the formation of public policy. Here is the session lineup:

October 11, 2:00-3:30 pm. Into the Real World: Historians and Public Policy

President’s Roundtable

Organizer & Chair:

Jonathan Coopersmith (Texas A&M University)

Participants:

  • Patrick McCray (University of California, Santa Barbara)
  • Roger Launius (Smithsonian Institution)
  • Jennifer Light (Northwestern University)
  • Christopher Jones (Arizona State University)
  • Richard Hirsch (Virginia Tech)

For anyone who might have an interest, information about the meeting may be found here. The full conference program is available here. Perhaps I will see you in Portland.
